Verse 1 Redeemed by blood, the work of love,
Amazing truth, the blood of One
Whose place was rightfully above,
Coequal on the Father’s throne.

Verse 2 No victim of inferior worth
Could ward the stroke that justice aimed;
For none but He, in heav’n or earth,
Could offer that which justice claimed.

Verse 3 But He, the Lord of glory, came,
Upon the cross He bowed His head;
He suffered pain, He suffered shame,
And lay a pris’ner with the dead.

Verse 4 But lo! He’s risen from the grave,
And bears the greatest, sweetest name;
The Lord, almighty now to save,
From sin, from death, from endless shame.
